A Street Cat Named Bob: How One Man and His Cat Found Hope on the Streets

A Street Cat Named Bob: How One Man and His Cat Found Hope on the Streets - James Bowen This was a gift to cat-crazy me from a member of my cat-crazy family. And the "Bob" in question is an orange tabby, so that gained points with me from the first.

I was saddened by the tale of borderline survival that James Bowen tells, even though there is a hopeful ending. Were it not for my incredibly supportive family, I could be closer to that state than I like to think about. So perhaps I didn't have quite enough emotional distance to be able to take any pleasure in that aspect of the book, even though it has some funny anecdotes. And no-one has to sell me on the smartness (on their own terms) and lovingness (also on their own terms) of orange tomcats. I can fully appreciate how having Bob as a companion was a positive force.

I wish James Bowen well, and I hope Bob's book has brought him a comfortable retirement.
