The Spy Who Came In from the Cold

The Spy Who Came In from the Cold - John le Carré My first Le Carre, and not being a big fan of Cold War fiction, I wasn't expecting to enjoy it as much as I did. I very much liked the wheels within wheels and the way you had to stay alert to follow what was going on (which was not at all what you were being told by the narrator). I was also surprised that the twist ending carried so much of an emotional punch. The sad, bitter cynicism seemed entirely true to that world. Well, I'm sure this novel's been written about ad nauseam, so I won't add my superficial first-reading "insights", except that I'm pleased I gave it a go.
