Time of My Life: Jill Trenary: The Day I Skated for the Gold

Time of My Life: Jill Trenary: The Day I Skated for the Gold - Jill Trenary It's a slightly bizarre title, given that Trenary was not given a realistic chance to win over Witt and Thomas. But otherwise, this "day at the Olympics" photo-and-commentary essay is very well handled (and of course very tactful on just about every count). Photographer is Dino Ricci, husband of Trenary's choreographer that year, Sandra Bezic. Includes one funny (if slightly catty) picture of the warmup, showing Jill looking stressed, Katarina tugging at the neck of her costume, and Liz Manley fixing the legline of hers. Voice of the text sounds authentically Jill, though of course someone has vetted it pretty carefully. No opinions on the legitimacy of the outcome. I enjoyed the little observations on Calgary at Olympic-time (everyone had left their Christmas lights up…)
