Road Rage

Road Rage - Ruth Rendell Very much of its time (late '90s), this book is about murders occurring during and around environmental opposition to a bypass highway. Inspector Wexford's personal stake in the story is upped when his wife is kidnapped as one of the hostages in an attempt to get the bypass stopped. Eventually, the more monied people, plus a corruptible policeman, end up being the villains, and there is at least one death that appears to be but is not a murder. Enjoyed the working out of the story very much.
