The Patrician's Daughter : a tragedy in five acts

The Patrician's Daughter : a tragedy in five acts - John Westland Marston [These notes were made in 1983:]. Read for exans. Another broken-hearted young lady bites the dust! The somewhat confused original problem was Pride of Ancestry, particularly as embodied in a nasty, scheming old Aunt Lydia, who is very penitent at the end, when everybody forgives everybody else; Mabel will insist, however, on dying anyway, and what should have been a comedy becomes a tragedy.
