A Sea of Troubles

A Sea of Troubles - Donna Leon Enjoyed the unsentimental but highly picturesque descriptions of Venice and area. Coming in at about the tenth in a series doesn't seem to have harmed the reading experience; although one can tell that there are disturbances afoot in the personal life of the detective, it doesn't trespass unduly on the plot.

I'd characterize this as a light read; it has an air of slight irony, especially in the dialogue, that kept the story tripping along, and the climactic sea-storm and resolution, though not unexpected, was well-handled.

Will look for other adventures of Commissario Brunetti, his faithful lieutenants, and the resourceful Signorina Elettra.
