The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo - Stieg Larsson As I sat down in the waiting area at the airport, and pulled this volume out of my purse, the woman across from me pulled out the exact same volume. We laughed together, and the woman sitting next to her said, "I'm just starting the second one." I'm not making this up. It really is a bit of a global phenomenon. So part of the novelty of reading this novel doesn't have anything to do with the novel itself, but just that (unusual for me) sensation of being on the same page, as it were, with huge numbers of my fellow-humans.

That said, it was a fine mystery/thriller; I'd put it in my top 20, and look forward to getting to the other two eventually. Too many millions of opinionated words on the book's merits and defects have already been tossed into the blogosphere, so I'll stop there. Really liked it. Want to find out more about Blomqvist and Salander. Looking forward to seeing both the Swedish and American movies at some point.
