The Adventures of Sally (Wodehouse)

The Adventures of Sally - P.G. Wodehouse

Despite the fact that she's a bright lass, and one of Wodehouse's relatively rare leading ladies, Sally's adventures in the end boil down to making the correct choice amongst three suitors, picking goofy, good-hearted and red-headed over wealthy, inhibited and dark-haired as well as over creative, self-absorbed and (I think) fair-haired. Nonetheless, we have a great deal of fun along the way, visiting a New York boarding house and dancing hall, at least one playhouse, an English country house, a beach in Franch upon which there is a massive dogfight, a boxing training camp on Long Island in which there is a massive manfight, and various other locations in which Wodehouse, through Sally and his other characters, can indulge in chirpy and amusing observations on life in general.

Not as over-the-top in characterization as some of Wodehouse's other work; nonetheless I enjoyed it.
