Oxford Double

Oxford Double - Veronica Stallwood I'd characterize this as "mystery lite" at best - the characters are not compelling enough to make me want to hunt down other entries in the series. And while it may be the characteristic propensity of certain mystery authors to allow the readers to guess their solution before the detective character (in this case a novelist), I felt that for someone who was being described as intelligent, Kate Ivory took altogether too long to put "printing plant", "international economics skullduggery" and "smuggled diskette" together to come up with a counterfeiting scheme. I was at that point well before she was. Mind you, she might have been a little distracted by having her neighbours on *both* sides murdered (and, indeed, by the apparent unconcern of the authorities for her welfare).

A passing distraction.
